Generali Pilipinas Executive Appointments

Insurer Generali Pilipinas is pleased to announce the appointments of its five executives who will play significant roles in beefing up the company’s operations.

Mercy Santua-Maloles will continue the Generali-BDO Bancassurance growth momentum as Generali’s Chief Bancassurance Officer. Mercy brings a very strong background in the Bancassurance business from her 13-year career with the Metrobank Group, where she held key positions in building AXA’s bancassurance venture. Prior to joining Generali, Mercy was Executive Vice President for Great Pacific Life Assurance Corporation’s (Grepalife) Bancassurance Channel.

She earned her AB Degree in Communication from St. Paul College, Manila and earned her MS Units in Advertising from the University of Santo Tomas. She has also completed the Associate Customer Service (ACS) Program of the Life Office Management Association (LOMA), an international organization of insurance and financial services companies from over 80 countries that engage in research and educational activities to improve company operations.

Joe V. Ferreria will further drive the activity and productivity of Generali’s Agents as Chief Agency Officer. Joe has acquired 29 years of work experience acquired from reputable insurance companies and has gained extensive exposure to agency operations that includes manpower, profitability, training and development programs.

He is a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF), a designation issued by the American College and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).

Joe, a Registered Financial Planner (RFP), is also an expert on heuristics where he analyses people’s spending patterns and customizes their financial plans based on his analyses.

He completed his BS degree, major in Business Administration from the University of the East.

Sharon B. Maranan will continue to strengthen the company’s Group Insurance operations as Chief Group Officer. Sharon, who has been with the company for over 10 years, has extensive industry experience in both Life and Group operations and is perfectly appointed to reinforce Generali’s Group Insurance operations. Her team will work closely with corporate clients, brokers, reinsurers, and other intermediaries.

Sharon is a Fellow and past President of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines, and is a member of the International Actuarial Association. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in BS Mathematics, major in Actuarial Science, Magna Cum Laude. In 2007, she was the recipient of the Albertus Magnus Science Award as outstanding alumna of the UST College of Science. She completed her Management Development Program from the Asian Institute of Management and later on served as Director of Philippine Life Insurance Association for the years 2004 and 2005.

Melvin J. Esteban will build and manage effective marketing and training platforms throughout the company as Chief Marketing and Training Officer. As such, Melvin will be responsible in building more effective marketing strategies and efficient training programs across Generali’s distribution channels after his successful stint as Generali-BDO Bancassurance Head, where he brought 4 consecutive record breaking months since March this year and beating the entire company’s 2008 full-year actual Individual Life premiums as early as May 2009. Melvin will also enhance the Generali Pilipinas brand and maintain a strong and effective communications campaign with Generali’s customers, regulators and stakeholders.

Melvin is the first Filipino recipient of the Young Asean Manager’s Award (YAMA). He holds a BS degree in Mathematics with minors in operations research, actuarial sciences, C programming and physics from the University of the Philippines. He finished his post graduate studies at the College of Financial Planning in Colorado, USA and completed Managing Family Corporations for Succession Planning at the Asian Institute Management.

He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) with Distinction, an Associate with Financial Services Institute, a Registered Financial Planner (RFP), and a Certified Financial Consultant (CFC) by the Institute of Financial Consultants, Canada, with High Distinction.
Atty. James B. Yee has been appointed Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of the Company to manage and direct the activities of Generali’s Legal and Compliance Department while acting as a member of the Company’s Core Leadership Team. He will also serve as the Corporate Secretary of the Company and lead the Claims Unit of the Company’s Individual Life Business.

Atty. James brings his expertise gained from a multi-national life insurance company as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for over 6 years. He also has 9 years of experience as a commercial and general lawyer from various law firms and has competencies in the areas of legal management and corporate compliance.

Atty. Yee earned his BS degree in Commerce, major in Accounting from San Beda College and completed his Bachelor of Laws from Manuel Luis Quezon University College of Law. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
