Insurer Generali Pilipinas (GP) posted a 10% hike in its 2008 combined premiums to 2,600 million.

Mr. Derek Chan, President & CEO, stated that despite the challenging business environment in the previous year, GP prospered and achieved growth according to its strategic goals.

GP’s frontrunner is its Individual Life business that delivered a total premium production of P 1,060 million. Its Group business continued to deliver growth to P734 million in 2008.

GP’s Property & Casualty business also showed significant results by ending the year with P808 million. The significant growth in the P&C business is a combined effort from its multi-distributions, Development Underwriting, Bancassurance and Agencies.

GP’s determined effort in implementing its “change plan” which focuses on all its basic operations resulted in substantial improvements in claims management, cost control, renewals, persistency and in general a better efficiency in all operations. The improved foundation in business processes and people are paramount to GP’s profitable growth in the future.
